2010 will see the Byrd Knife line receive upgrades in ergonomics, four-way pocket clips and high performance full-flat ground blades. New Cara Cara2 lightweight is a mid-to-small folder with a full-flat ground blade made from high-carbon 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. The comet shaped blade hole identifies it as a byrd knife and facilitates one-hand open/close even on the fly. Above the hole, jimping dots the spine creating texture which the thumb latches onto, laying the skids on sliding and slipping while cutting and sawing. Further securing the folder in the hand are what looks like fish scales covering the FRN called Bi-Directional Texturing®. This and the jimping work together keeping the knife under the control of the user, still and steady even in a wet or slick hand. A four-way clip and a lanyard hole offer multiple carry options: tip-up/tip-down or left-right-handed or laced with a thong or cord.
